Most of the State of Alaska has no access by road. The majority of towns and villages are fly-in or boat-in only. This remoteness is frequently accompanied by alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence, poverty and insurmountable hopelessness often resulting in suicide.

There are those who are willing to dedicate their lies to reach these people with the love and hope found through Christ. By itself, this is a monumental task, combined with the daily problems that arise, this can result in missionaries and pastors struggling with the jobs they are unskilled or unable to accomplish, getting overwhelmed and possibly leaving the villages before their own personal calling has been accomplished.

That’s where Helping Hands Alaska comes in. Not only is there little support for many of these missionaries, but in most villages there are no professionals available for hire. Any skilled labor must be flown in at great expense. Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanics for trucks, boats, four wheelers, snow machines and many other problems as well as supply buying and shipping, requires multiple trained people and thousands of thousands of dollars to accomplish.

We, at Helping Hands Alaska, are able to do all of these things for them for just the cost of materials or parts. We also provide housing and vehicles for them to use at no cost when they are in Fairbanks, dropping off or picking up many people from the local airlines coming and going to their villages.
